Pesado, demolidor, ruidoso ou afim, é assim que se pode adjectivar Chat Pile, uma banda de Oklahoma (EUA) formada no começo deste ano. This Dungeon Earth é o seu EP de estreia e ao dar-lhe algumas rotações, percebemos que estamos perante um colosso do noise rock.
Munido de muita distorção, feedback e uma boa dose de dissonância, This Dungeon Earth é composto por quatro temas. Face, Rainbow Meat, Rat Boy e Crawlspace são autênticas bombas sonoras em permanente detonação. As letras são pessimistas e negras como é habitual no noise rock, mas destacam-se algumas pinceladas de sentido de humor e ironia, como é também visível nos alter-egos escolhidos pelos membros da banda. Raygun Busch (voz), Luther Manhole (guitarra), Stin (baixo) e Cap’n Ron (bateria Yamaha dtxplorer).
Assim como bandas anteriores e pesadas deste género como Brainbombs e até Big Black, existe uma tentativa de dinamizar o som com a inclusão de outras influências. No caso de Chat Pile nota-se alguma influência sludge que aliada ao noise rock torna-os ainda mais demolidores.

Heavy, destructive, noisy or related is what you can call Chat Pile, a band from Oklahoma (USA) formed in the beginning of this year. This Dungeon Earth is their debut EP and by listening to it a couple of times, we understand that we are standing before a noise rock colossus.
Armed with a lot of distortion, feedback and a good amount of dissonance, This Dungeon Earth comprises four songs. Face, Rainbow Meat, Rat Boy and Crawlspace are authentic sonic bombs in permanent detonation. The lyrics are dark and pessimistic as usual in noise rock but there is also some sense of humor which is also present in the choice of the band members’s alter egos with names such as Raygun Busch (vocals), Luther Manhole (guitar), Stin (bass) and Cap’n Ron (drums Yamaha dtxplorer).
Like some bands before them like Brainbombs or even Big Black there is a tendency to enrich their sound and include several influences. In Chat Pile’s case we sense a sludge influence that allied to the noise rock makes them even more demolishing.
