Há bandas que conseguem fundir no seu som diversos géneros, mantendo na mesma uma independência de rótulos. Não se conseguem classificar facilmente. É assim com Helium Horse Fly, uma banda belga de Liège. Formaram-se em 2009 e contam com dois registos de originais, o primeiro homónimo editado em 2013 e o mais recente editado em 2019 - Hollowed - sobre o qual já escrevemos aqui no site.
O disco homónimo tem uma abordagem bastante vanguardista e experimental com elementos de post-metal, art-rock e math rock. Existe uma certa melancolia que por vezes se desnorteia em explosões rítmicas para logo depois se acalmar com passagens atmosféricas de guitarra. Um disco de estreia que já se revelava bastante promissor de uma banda que solidificou e fortaleceu ainda mais o seu som com Hollowed, editado no começo deste ano.

There are bands that can blend many genres within their sound, but at the same time maintain a certain independence devoided of labels. They can’t be classified that easily. That's what happens with Helium Horse Fly, a Belgium band from Liège. The band was formed in 2009 and they have released two records, the first one in 2013 and the more recent one in 2019 – Hollowed – that we already reviewed on this website.
The first record has a very avant-garde and experimental approach and blend elements of post-metal, art-rock and math-rock. There is a melancholy that sometimes erupts in rhythmic explosions and then soothes in calm atmospheric guitar passages. A debut record that was very promising and that solidified and fortified their sound in their latest record - Hollowed - released at the beginning of this year.
