- TRANSLATION -

Sonic minimalism and the virtue of repetition create in the listener an hypnotic haze, just like a major focus in each of the instruments. The same chord repeated and bounced through the more austere and firm lines of the bass, lines up in a matrix where the drums feel like it wants to tread savage territories but ends up contained. Minimalism can trick us, it looks like that at any given moment it can erupt in sonic explosions for which there are no emergency plans.

Kukangendai is from Kyoto (Japan). Formed in 2006 they already released 4 LP’S and the most recent one is called PALM released in 2009. It’s a band that likes and feels more freedom in live performances, having collaborated with bands such as Goat or with the poet, filmmaker and photographer Gozu Yoshimasu, with whom they did a tour in 2017.

Despite having a focus on experimental rock and beyond, Kukangendai does not feel shy about exploring other genres, having collaborated with Moe and Ghosts, in an album called Rap Phenomenon, of experimental hip-hop.
