Le Grand Sbam de Léon (França) volta este ano com o seu novo álbum de originais, Furvent. Um álbum conceptual inspirado e baseado no romance La horde du Contrevent do escritor francês de sci-fi, Alain Damasio, assim como no simbolismo patente no texto chinês ancestral Yi Jing que era essencialmente usado para a arte esotérica da divinação. O texto possui a qualidade de ser um dos mais antigos na história da China fazendo parte do seu legado cultural, assim como ter tido influência em inúmeros pensadores e escritores do movimento contracultura dos anos 60, e também do século XX, tais como Herman Hesse, Jorge Luis Borges e Phillip K.Dick, entre outros.
Existe em Furvent uma confluência de um universo ancestral com um futurismo de certa forma caótico e, ao mesmo tempo, cerebral e complexo, como as ruínas de uma estrutura arquitectónica futurista caída em decadência, cujas fundações são pontuadas por vigas, musgo e plantas variadas.
Sonoramente, é um piscar de olhos a RIO, zeuhl, rock psicadélico de outros tempos que converge com composições complexas e estruturas típicas de rock matemático. Existe uma conferência de melodias que se colocam em camadas com ritmos e compassos peculiares que sempre definiram Le Grand Sbam, e que os coloca outra vez no caminho da experimentação e inovação, obliterando géneros musicais, limites e/ou barreiras musicais outrora rigidamente estabelecidos.
Le Grand Sbam rebelam-se através das suas composições, ora frenética, ora tranquilas que se desdobram em vocais que tanto podem ser duetos, coros, solos ou o flow harmonioso em contraposição às onomatopeias rebeldes. Mais uma vez, a música sopra e vibra no tom e na entoação de onomatopeias que criam o desejado efeito surrealista e aventureiro, que tem sido parte fulcral da identidade da banda.
Furvent é editado hoje através da editora Dur et Doux que também edita o disco de estreia de Rien Faire, uma banda que também dá ampla liberdade às palavras, ao seu som e entoação dando-lhes uma existência própria.
Le Grand Sbam com Furvent assina um disco conceptual que irá agradar a fãs de música progressiva com dose elevada de experimentação.

Le Grand Sbam from Lyon (France) returns with their latest album titled Furvent. A conceptual album inspired and based on the novel The Horde of the Counterwind by French sci-fi writer, Alain Damasio, as well as in the symbolism present in the ancient Chinese text, I Ching that was used for the esoteric art of divination. The text is also one of the oldest texts in China, is part of the country’s cultural legacy and has influenced writers and thinkers from the 60’s counterculture and 20th Century. Figures such as Herman Hesse, Jorge Luis Borges and Philip K. Dick, among others.
It exists in the album, a confluence of an ancestral universe with the futurism of times to come, chaotic yet cerebral and complex, like the ruins of a futuristic building that has fallen into decay and whose foundations are intertwined with luscious plants and flora, retaining a new kind of beauty.
Sonically, it has RIO, zeuhl and psych rock leanings that converge from time to time with complex and ordered structures present in mathematical rock. There is a conference of melodies that make up layers with rhythms and tempos that are unusual and creative, a trademark that has been an important part of the band’s identity, putting them again on the path of experimentation and innovation, obliterating music genres, limits and/or barriers that are rigidly established.
Le Grand Sbam rebel through their music compositions that are either frantic or tranquil, distending into vocals that may be in form of duets, choirs, solos or in the harmonious and rebellious flow of onomatopoeias. Once more, music vibrates upon the tones and intonations of the words, creating a surrealist effect that is adventurous.
Furvent is released today through the label Dur et Doux that also releases today the debut album of the band Rien Faire, a band that also gives words ample liberty, playing with their sounds and intonations and giving them a life of their own.
Le Grand Sbam releases a conceptual album that will please fans of prog rock with huge doses of experimentation.
